Assessment & Placement
The assessment process is quick (about an hour and a half), simple and relatively painless! The reading comprehension and arithmetic portions consist of brief, untimed multiple choice questions completed on a computer. The writing portion consists of a one-page essay. (We provide you with a choice of six different topics!) The results - available immediately after the assessment - will allow an academic adviser to guide you in the process of selecting courses which are best suited for you.

Are you worried about a "less than perfect" performance? DON'T BE! Your adviser will recommend a variety of courses which are specifically designed to strengthen basic reading, writing, and/or math skills.

Want more information about our assessment program? You might want to review practice tests for reading and mathematics. The practice tests consist of a series of multiple-choice questions similar to those on the Accuplacer. Students usually feel more comfortable taking a test if they know what to expect on that test.
