RIBA Sponsors Seminar at NEIT
The Building Construction and Cabinetmaking Technology department
hosted a CAD seminar sponsored by the Rhode Island Builders Association
(RIBA) in the new Construction Technology building on November
7. The software program featured was Chief Architect, the same
program taught by the Construction Department. Chief Architect
was designed by builders and architects specifically for the residential
building industry and is very user friendly. It is one of the
most widely used programs by residential builders.
The seminar was conducted in two parts. The first
part was a demonstration, using the smart classroom, and was presented
by CAP, Inc. CAP is a distributor of the Chief Architect software
located in CT. The second part of the program provided hands-on
training in the computer lab. There were over 13 participants
from industry and several members from the RIBA staff present.
According to Felix Carlone, Building Construction
and Cabinetmaking Department Chair, "The department and the
college were thrilled to showcase our state-of- the-art facility
to members of the construction industry."
Seminar participants gather
around their computers.
