Seymour Golden cleaned out
a drawer recently and discovered old World War II photos as well
as the photo of his class's 1949 New England Tech graduation photo.
Unlike this year's class of over 800 graduates, Seymour's class
had only six graduates. Seymour is on the right in the back row.
The class attended New England Tech,
which was then called New England Technical Institute and was located
on Broad St. in Providence, under the GI Bill. All were students
in a two-year plastics program, which provided training in how plastics
were manufactured, prepared for distribution and shipped.
Seymour never pursued a career in
plastics, instead deciding on a career in sales. After finishing
the program, he went to work for Belltone Electronics and remained
there for 35 years. He retired only to find retirement boring, and
returned to Belltone. Seymour currently works part-time and stays
fit by running an hour a day. He visited the campus recently and
is amazed and pleased by the growth of the college
