IDSA Student Club "new on campus"
"What it takes to become an Interior Designer!" The Interior Design Student Alliance members will be displaying Interior Design Technology student work in the NEIT Library on January 23-March23. Stop by the Library and check ou the displays.

TECHAPPELLA "new on campus" Have you ever wanted to sing in an a cappella group? Can you carry a tune? That's all you need. We'll teach you the rest. Song choices to be decided by the participants and may include Doo Wop, Motown, etc. Techappella meets on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. in room CT143. Chess

Students may play between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. It is FREE! Space is limited.

Soul Calibur Tourament
The Soul Calibur Tournament was held on Tuesday, February 13 in the NEIT game room. The tournament began at 11:15 a.m. Look on campus for the next Soul Calibur Tournament.

Back Focus
The Back Focus event was sponsored by the Video and Audio Production Technology/Digital Arts Technology on Feb13. Back Focus is a showing of student video projects that have been selected by faculty from the Associate and Bachelor programs. The videos represented the best student work for the past year. The videos were shown in the Hall of Fame Room for the NEIT community to view. If you missed the event the videos will soon be available on the student website.

Bachelor Degree Information Session
An information session was held on Feb. 8 in the Student Lounge to inform current students about New England Tech's bachelor degree programs. A representative from the following technologies was available to provide information to students. Automotive Service Management Technology, Interior Design Technology, Digital Recording Arts Technology, Information Technology,Architectural Building Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Business Mangement Technology. If you were unable to attend the event and would like more information about any of the above mentioned bachelor degree programs, please contact the National Admissions Coordinator, Michael Caruso at (401) 739-5000 or you may email him at mcaruso@neit.edu

Pool Tournaments
Each quarter a pool tounament is organized for all students. The pool tournament is free to enter and the tournament winner receives a gift certificate to the NEIT Bookstore. The Fall 2006 pool tournament winner was Khari Adams an Architectural and Building Engineering Technology student and the winter 2007 tournament winner was Paul Bulgin a Video and Audio Production Technology student.

MCT STUDENTS VISIT SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT
Mechanical Engineering Technology students, faculty and members of the ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education Student Chapter recently visited Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. Sikorsky Aircraft is a leading manufaacturer of commercial and military helicopters which include Black Hawks, Sea Hawks, and Sky Hawks. The 2 hour tour was given by Sikorsky retirees. Other field trips are in the planning stage for 2007 which could include Bell Helicopter and Taco Inc.

WINNER OF THE 2006 IIDA STUDENT COMPETITION
JenniferIIDA-NE (International Interior Design Association-New England) held its first student competition honoring outstanding design among Interior Architecture and Interior Design students in Rhode Island. The purpose of the competition was to recognize and reward outstanding students and to encourage creative thinking, exciting ideas and techniques in the design and furnishings of Interior spaces. The recipient of the 2006 IIDA Student Competition award was Jennifer Sardelli, an Interior Design Technology student currently pursuing her bachelor degree at NEIT.

Blood Drive
The RI Blood Center will be conducting a Blood Drive on February 27, 2007.  The Blood Drive will be located in the CT Bldg. Student Lounge from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The Mobile Donor Coach will at the Access Road Campus between the hours of 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

SCENE IT? MUSIC TRIVIA GAME CHALLENGE
The Radio Student Club is hosting a Scene it? Music Trivia Challenge on Thursday. March 1 at 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in CT317. The game is limited to the first 4 teams of 3 to sign up by emailing Melissa Hague, mhague@neit.edu If you do not want to take part in the game, come and watch!

Tuesday, March 6 (week 8)
OPEN MIC
OPEN MIC will be in the Student Lounge, CT Building, on Tuesday, March 6 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. If you are interested in performing at Open Mic, please sign-up on the day of the event. Some past performances have included

included singing, playing an instrument, poetry, and comedy.

Spotlight on "THE INVESTMENT CLUB"
In each issue of Tech News a student club will be Spotlighted.

The Investment Club is sponsored by Business Management Technology (MGT) and is open to all students enrolled at New England Tech. The Investment Club is a newly recognized student club on campus. Students are welcome to join the investment club if they are interested in learning more about the following: reaching their long-term financial goals sooner, learning to trade online, discovering how to create a balanced portfolio, finding out about different securities, learning how to invest in the stock market, learning to use cool software investment tools, and seeing how trading occurs on the New York Stock Exchange. The Investment Club's faculty advisor is MGT Assistant Professor, Dan Peres.
