David Wiggins

Grad's Work Makes 48 Hours

On November 2, the camera work of alumnus David E. Wiggins was featured nationally on CBS's "48 Hours," narrated by Dan Rather. The focus of this edition of "48 Hours" was the December 3, 1999 Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse fire in which six firefighters died when a candle was left burning by a homeless couple.
Dave was the first news videographer on the scene shortly after the first alarm was sounded and, therefore, was able to obtain exclusive footage of the beginning of this historic fire. Dave received a BS in Telecommunications Technology in March 1996 and is currently employed by Charter Communications WGMC TV-3 in Worcester. He and his colleagues were recognized for 1st Place Photography for Public Service by New England Cable Television Association and were presented with an engraved trophy acknowledging their individual efforts for outstanding coverage of the fire. Dave is also the son of our very own Dean Emeritus, E. Foster Wiggins.
