Hi Cathy
I haven't spoken to you in a while
and thought I would send you a note. I'm sure you're aware of Harvard
Pilgrim Health Care closing the Southern New England facilities.
Well I managed to find a job four days after I was laid off. I'm
working for the Acushnet Company out in Fairhaven, MA now and loving
it. The Acushnet Company owns Titleist, Foot-Joy and Cobra. Titleist
is the largest supplier of golf balls in the world. We produce close
to1,000,000 golf balls a day. Foot-Joy is one of the largest suppliers
of golf apparel in the world and Cobra produces the finest golf
clubs money can buy. The Acushnet Company is owned by Fortune Brands
which owns Moen, Jim Beam, DeKyper, Geyser Peak and many other smaller

companies. I deal mostly with Titleist, Foot-Joy,
and Cobra. We support offices all over the Massachusetts area plus
California, Hawaii, Thailand, Ireland and the UK. I just got back
from providing technical support for the UK sales meeting which
was held in Atlanta.
I've received my MCP and I'm working
toward my MCSE with plans of completing that by Christmas. I often
remember the day you called me up and sent me to my first interview
with Mike Taylor at IBM. I remember that phone call because it changed
my life. The fact of the matter is that if I hadn't gotten that
call, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to prove myself to IBM.
That job looked very good on my resume. So thank you and have a
nice holiday season. I'll be in touch from time to time...

U.S. POSTAL SERVICE'S MANAGER OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS
SPEAKS TO CBM STUDENTS
|
Mr. Dave
Jordon, Manager of Consumer Affairs for the Southeastern
New England District of the U. S. Postal Service, recently
spoke to both the day and evening students of Computerized
Business Management Technology. Mr. Jordon presented an overview
of postal products and services needed and used in all business
organizations throughout the United States. He stressed that
basic knowledge of these services is needed by management
to maintain business growth and to keep postal service costs
down to a minimum.
The students learned
that the post office

employs almost 800,000 people, which makes them the number one employer
in the country. They deliver over 200 billion pieces of mail per year,
or 65 million pieces of mail each day. They own over 200,000 vehicleswhich
is more than all the U.S. Armed Forces combined! He informed the students
that most people believe the post office is funded by tax dollars;
that is not true.
The post office is funded from the proceeds of its goods and servicesspecial
mailings, stamps, etc. The only federal funds they receive are for
congressional mailings from our congressmen and senators in Washington
and for mail sent to and from the blind.
Mr. Jordon discussed mail fraud and
concluded by supplying updated information on products and services
including different classes of mail, special services such as priority,
express, certified, insured, and registered mail, to name a few. |
