Paul Westrom

Electrical Technology Department welcomes to new instructors from industry

The Electrical Technology (ELY) Department is excited to announce the addition of two very dynamic instructors whose industry experience will enhance the curriculum and whose energy, drive and connections will further its students' educational experience.
Paul V. Westrom has joined the Electrical Technology department as an Assistant Professor. Paul has extensive experience in motors and controls from his years in the Navy, both as a Chief Electrician's Mate and an instructor for the Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit. He is a journey electrician licensed in both RI and Minnesota, and worked for Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. specializing in commercial and industrial projects. Paul was also the Principal Instructor of the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Program at Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Michael T. Eggeman, a 1998 graduate of the Electrical Technology program, is now the new Quarters 5 and 6 Assistant Professor replacing Al Genest who retired after 31 years of service to NEIT. Mike has been the PLC (programmable logic controller) sales and service representative for Eagle Electric Supply, Inc. He not only installed, maintained and serviced programmable logic controllers, but also ran many industry training seminars. He is well versed in the Allen-Bradley SLC500 and more sophisticated PLC's as well as motor drive systems, electro-mechanical and electronic sensors.
Because of Paul and Mike's expertise in their respective fields, the ELY curriculum now reflects many changes to make it more representative of what our students will face in industry. The advanced courses not only concentrates on three-phase motor controls and pipe bending but will also introduce more electro-mechanical and electronic sensors into the curriculum. Not only will the Allen-Bradley SLC500 PLCs curriculum expand to include more industrial processes, but the Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1200 PLCs are among the many new types of equipment that are now being introduced, bringing the Electrical Technology program to a very high level indeed.

Matthew Fillio, 2002 Telecommunications Graduate, recently brought his video class for a tour of New England Institute Of Technology. Matt is now a Technology Instructor at Lee Middle and High School.

Carol Penza of Macy's Corporate Gift Services presented a Dress for Success seminar to Computerized Business Management. With sample clothing appropriate for the employment interview as well as for on the job, Ms. Penza showed the students how to mix and match accessories to stretch both men's and women's wardrobes. CBM students Jason Spencer and April Turnberg modeled the clothes from Macy's.

Do you know where your former classmates are?
The Career Services Office can attest to the fact that they are working in exciting jobs! We wish them continued success in their careers and all of their future endeavors
