Business Management's Entrepreneurship Students
Present Their Business Plans

8 (l-r) William Springer,
Chuck Canesi, John Ornberg, Austin Donnelly, and George Zoglio listen
to the Business Management Technology student presentations.
Last quarter, as part of
the program in Business Management Technology, the students presented
their business plans for their theoretical start-up companies. The
students explained their new companies to five businessmen who are
also members of the Technical Advisory Board for the Business Management
program; they also represent both public and private organizations.
They critiqued each of the presenters and gave valuable advice.
The students enjoyed the opportunity to present and learn from the
advice shared in the critiques. In the future some of the students
may be operating their new businesses successfully.
Alan Rick, Department Chair for
Business Management Technology, indicated the experience the students
gained from the presentations will help them in both employment
and in their personal financial lives. Alan constantly provides
opportunities for students to work in teams and make presentations
in each of their courses.
Grads Find Jobs They Love

Diana Potvin and Tim Eley

Russ Hampton, president of
Ocean State Harley-Davidson, Inc. in Warwick, and his family have
made their company, in the words of two of their employees, the
best place to work. The two employees are Diana Potvin and Tim Eley,
who are graduates of NEIT's Computerized Business Management Technology
and Automotive Technology programs, respectively. Both really like
and respect the company's owners and thoroughly enjoy the family
atmosphere that exists among all the employees.
Tim is one of eleven service technicians
and Diana is in customer relations/parts. Both, along with the company's
other employees, are recipients of extensive in-service training.
Both Diana and Tim have sat for and will continue to sit for certification
exams that are specific to Harley Davidson. Tim needs to know all
aspects of Harley repairs and service, and Diana needs to be thoroughly
knowledgeable in Harley parts, accessories and clothing. Both draw
from the skills acquired at NEIT to excel in their jobs. It doesn't
hurt at all that both love motorcycles and have done extensive traveling
on bikes.
