TCT Student's Film Goes International

Dave Souza films his documentary
When Dave Souza, a Telecommunications Technology student, was told
the requirements for his associate degree final project, he knew
exactly what he wanted to do. "I had done a short interview
with tattoo artist Phil Girard in an earlier quarter and I really
wanted to do a documentary on tattooing." Phil gave Dave total
access to his tattoo studio, and Dave went beyond that and spoke
to several generations of people about their feelings on tattoos.
About the time Dave finished the documentary, he saw that the Rhode
Island International Film Festival was accepting nominations for
films. Dave had volunteered at the event in 2000 and he felt his
film might be good enough to be shown at this year's festival. He
was right. Dave's documentary "Sin on Skin" was not only
accepted but it was nominated for one of the festival awards.
(Editor's note: At the time of publication, the festival had
not taken place. Therefore, it was not known if the film won an
award.)
His film was scheduled for one of the prime spots of the festival
- Sunday evening, August 12th, at the List Theater in Providence.
Dave says it has been a real thrill and he wants to thank everyone
involved in making the film a reality.
