Scott Lambert

When Bishop Hendricken High School wanted to offer their students an advanced computer course, they came to the right source. NEIT Information Technology assistant professor Scott Lambert taught an eight-week VB.NET course, which met twice a week after school hours, to 11 Bishop Hendricken High School students. Bishop Hendricken High School is considering offering additional computer courses through NEIT in the fall.

Surgical technology holds educational event


On May 15 the department of Surgical Technology, in conjunction with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, hostes, "Advances in Operating Room Techniques" which drew a crowd of over 50 health care professionals from the tri-state area. Christine Kennedy, organizer of the event, stated, "Educational events like this one are a way of saying thank you to our partners in education, our hospital affiliates." Ethicon Endo-Surgery is a division of Johnson and Johnson and manufactures some of the latest advancements in technology used in surgery today.

Representatives from Ethicon provided hands-on stations for the conference attendees to practice surgical techniques and try out the state of the art equipment. Those attending the conference earned six continuing education credits. Lisa S. Reed, Surgical Technology Department Chair stated, "All of the feedback received was very positive. The participants felt that they could apply the educational information that was presented at the seminar to their clinical practice." Ms. Reed hopes to be able to offer more of these educational seminars in the future

American Power conversion chooses New England Tech for training

The Center for Technology and Industry is pleased to announce that American Power Conversion Corporation (APC) of Kingston, RI has chosen NEIT to instruct their refrigeration technicians.

The technicians will be working towards obtaining a universal class refrigeration license. This license allows the technicians to work with high and low level pressures while meeting the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for handling refrigerants.

Bob Yurovchak, instructor for the Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning/Heating and Gas Technology, will be instructing the two groups of APC employees. The training will be held on site at American Power Conversion in West Warwick, RI.

Admissions Officer receives recognition

Andrew Antone, NEIT's International Admissions Officer, has received a prestigious award from the Government of Bermuda. The Honorable Terry Lister, Minister of Education and Development for Bermuda, along with Nalton Brangman, Chairman of Bermuda's National Training Board (NTB), recognized Andrew by presenting him with the Chairman's Award.

The Chairman's Award is presented to individuals and institutions in recognition of their outstanding service to technical education. More than forty Bermudians have attended New England Tech as a result of Andrew's dedicated efforts and personal commitment. "This college provides a unique opportunity for students all over the world and I am honored to be a part of the process. It is a pleasure to help students fulfill their educational goals," states Andrew.
