In each issue of Tech News a student club will be spotlighted. This time the spotlight shines on the WNET Tech Radio Club.  The article below was written by Jamel Hardtman, Business Management Technology Bachelor student and the Radio Club’s Station Manager.

WNET Tech Radio is a club that was formed in October of 2005. The idea for Tech Radio was to give students a chance to gain valuable skills outside of class and acquire experience that could help them develop a better knowledge of how to run their own radio programs. Tech Radio offers various opportunities for students such as on air talent, production work, operating the board, and more. Members of Tech Radio are encouraged to tape their shows and use them as a marketing tool when they apply for future jobs in radio.

Tech Radio is made up of mainly Video & Radio Production and Digital Recording Arts students; however; students from all technical programs are welcome to participate as we are always looking for more on air talent.

The founding officers of WNET Tech Radio are Station Manager/President, Jamel Hardtman; Program Director/Vice President, Steven Sousa, Digital Recording Arts Technology student; Secretary, Catherine McShane, Digital Recording Arts Technology student; and Treasurer, Matt Ambar, Digital Recording Arts Technology student. The overall goal of these officers is to ensure that Tech Radio runs smoothly as we look to improve and expand on the original ideas of the station.

Up until May of 2006, WNET Tech Radio could be heard only in the Student Lounge located in the CT Building; however, it is now also available to students in the Tech Diner.
