Signs Articulation Agreement With Year UP

of year up. Standing from left: Erin Flynn, Jill Holloway,
Outreach and Admission at Year Up, Tara Totoro.
Sara
Strammiello, Executive Director of Year Up, has
announced that students will have the opportunity to earn
college credit while attending Year Up, a one-year, intensive
training program that provides urban young adults, ages
18 - 24, with a unique combination of technical and professional
skills, college credits and a paid corporate internship.
Under the newly formed articulation agreement between New
England Institute of Technology and Year Up, located in
Providence, Rhode Island, students taking courses in the
computer program at Year Up may earn college credit through
the Advanced Tech Program at New England Tech.
“Earning
college credit is an outstanding opportunity for students
planning to pursue careers in the technical fields,”
said Ms. Strammiello. Erin Flynn, Coordinator of High School
Programs at New England Tech stated, “By transferring
credits, students may receive advanced standing and reduce
the costs of tuition.”
Students
taking specific courses in the computer program at Year
Up may earn up to 23 college credits toward an associate
degree in Information Technology or up to three college
credits toward an associate degree in Computerized Business
Management Technology.
Richard
Dubuisson, Learning Director at Year Up, worked with NEIT’s
Nick LaManna, Associate Chair of Information Technology;
Elizabeth Hoch, Chair of Computerized Business Management
Technology; and Tara Totoro, Assistant Coordinator of High
School Programs, to develop the articulation agreements.
“Advanced
Tech will offer students an opportunity for a head start
in a career area and also get them involved in a post-secondary
education with a specific direction in mind,” said
Ms. Flynn. “We congratulate the administration and
faculty at Year Up for offering this opportunity to their
students.”
